Expansion on my Blogging

The main reason I started my first blog was because I wanted to start writing reviews and columns and such again. You see, I had a web site back in the late 1990's with just movie reviews, they were poorly written but they were there. I never had any traffic, I had no idea how to promote it or anything. Years later, the site fell into disrepair and disappeared. At a couple of different points over the years, I wanted to get it going again, so I would start with a layout start designing something new from the ground up. Each time I would get writers block and abandon the project. In the mean time I would see more and more movies and have no one to talk about them with. Then a few months ago I discovered blogging.

This is perfect! Finally an outlet where I can vent my writing and not have to worry about the design and upkeep of an entire website! I went to Blogskins.com, found a nice layout and started writing. Since then, I feel my writing has improved and I am enjoying it more and more. Now I write first and foremost for me, but at the same time I would like to develop an audience for my work, and so far that has begun to happen. I have noticed that I have a number of repeat visitors, you know who you are, and they seem to appreciate my writing. It is actually helping me on a professional level as well, as I am thinking of applying for a job in writing.

As for this blog, I discovered I wanted to do things that fell outside the realm of what I wanted to do on Draven99's Musings entertainment base. I wanted to write about other things, thoughts, ideas, my old poetry, photography. So the Deadlock Victim was born.

Hopefully you will keep coming back for more, and I will try to provide something interesting for you. Tomorrow, I will be posting a few more pictures, and I have some things to write that were brought up by the film I saw tonight that won't fit in over at The Musings. So until tomorrow....

Rock.

Here's is a personal favorite from a recent trip to Albany, NY. Posted by Hello

It's A Hardblog Life

Ya know, writing new blog content on a daily basis is tough. Trying to come up with a topic, coming up with enough content to make the topic worthwhile, thinking of a topic while away from your PC and forgetting what it is by the time you get there, trying to vary it a little bit. I don't know how some people do it, but at the same time, during my recent downtime from Draven99's Musings, I couldn't wait to get back on it. It's almost like an addiction.

Checking the counter and seeing people actually visiting my site just adds to the high. Then people who leave comments, forget about it!

Anyway, back to writing, sometimes I come up with great ideas for columns, but I forget them as soon as I've thought of them. Or even better, when I start writing and get struck with incurable writer's block. I am thankful that I have been able to keep it up thus far.

I started my first blog because I wanted to work on my review/critical writing and express my thoughts on entertainment to, hopefully, people who may enjoy or appreciate it. Most of my friends and co-workers don't derive the same level of enjoyment from a good movie or whatever, so I usually end up getting made fun of it. Nothing serious, of course, all in good fun, but it left me wanting for an arena to express these thoughts. I started this blog as a way to express other things, not related to entertainment, although I am sure some of it will seep into my writing here, it's hard for me to escape it.

Anyway, as you have experienced already, you will see photos, random thoughts, and possibly even some of my poetry from my college days. Nothing too great, but I like some of them.

Keep on Blogging.

Picture Pages....

Now to reveal what the pictures are.... drum roll please.....

The 1st pic is the side of my mouse, it is an optical mouse with a translucent red side, so when the light comes on it glows red. I just turned the lights out and set my camera down close to it ans snapped it.
The 2nd is the clear side panel of my new PC case. It has a number of blue LED fans in it so when I turn it on the insides glow. I thought those pictures came out pretty good!

Keep'em Guessing.

Alien Life....?

I was mowing the lawn this evening, exciting I know, and the thought of the possibility of alien life came to mind. I don't know how or why it did, it's not like I was watching any movies with aliens lately or anything.

Do you think it exists? Do you think we've already been visited? Enough people seem to claim abductions to support it.

Personally, I think it would be arrogant and presumptuous to think that we are alone in the universe. The universe is a big place, and with the number of galaxies, planets, moons and so forth in that universe, there must be other life somewhere. I refuse to believe we are it in terms of life. As for question of visitation, that is a bigger one. I don't really believe the visitation stories. I'm sure it's possible that alien life has come here, but all of these abduction stories, I just don't buy'em. Maybe if I had a similar experience I would think differently. But at the same time, I would expect life that has the ability to travel here would make some other sort communication, maybe through the UN, or something, anything other than picking up people on empty stretches of road.

Anyway, I have no idea where that came from, but I felt like sharing it.

Thoughts, opinions, you know the drill.

End Transmission.

Welcome to Deadlock Victim.

This will be an ongoing collection of whatever I feel like putting here, thoughts, photos, observations. Surreal, bizarre, or so normal it will bore you to tears, you will continue to come back to the Victim.

The Title.
I got the idea for the title while at work. While typing up some information in our problem tracking software I got an error. The error was something like this:
Runtime error: WOW32.dll
You have been chosen as the deadlock victim.
Press enter to continue.

Or something like that. Anyway, I looked at it and said, to myself so as not to expose my insanity, "Deadlock Victim would be a great name for something, I don't know, a movie, a band, something." So as I'm driving home, it hit me! It'll be the name of my new blog. So here it is.

I hope that someone finds this interesting enough to return too, otherwise, thanks for the one-time stop-by.

Stay Crazy.

I know have an image of the error. Click here.
