My inner child is sixteen years old!
Life's not fair! It's never been fair, but while
adults might just accept that, I know
something's gotta change. And it's gonna
change, just as soon as I become an adult and
get some power of my own.

It's All About the Ending
If any of you have ever written a story, the concept is the easy part, everybody has stories they can tell, based on their lives or their loved ones, or their enemies, or it can be completely made up/ Or it can be some combination of the two.
The main body can come out in an inspired burst, or fitful spurts brought on by lack of sleep or overcaffeination. It can be long or short, original or derivative. This is where the creativity comes into play. But there is something more important yet to come.
The most important part of a story is the ending. It is the last thing that your audience will experience. It carries the most weight with how your work will be perceived. Without a good ending, all that has come before it doesn't mean a thing. Have you ever read a novel, or watched a movie, or anything, that was on the dull side, but had an ending that blew you away? I know I have, and it changes the way you view everything that led up to that point.
That being said, starting Sunday, I will be porting over some stuff I wrote back in college. Specifically, it was the stages that my short film went through. Some of the text was written when it was posted on my website way back in the day. I will reread each step and post my own notes along with it, if any.
I also must say, the inspiration for this came to me as I viewed the Secret Window DVD (Review to be forthcoming at The Musings). A movie I definitely recommend.
Hopefully you will all come back to read the journey.
Keep Scribbling.

Foul Language
While doing a little bit of blog-hopping, I noticed that a lot of people use bad language in their posts and it got me to thinking. From the very first time I had a site, a good 8 years ago, I always made a conscious effort to not swear in my online posts. I always felt it made me come across as less professional, and it wasn't how I wanted to portray myself online.
Don't get me wrong, I have been known to let forth flurries of the stuff on a moments notice in my everyday life. I am not against it's use, nor am I against anyone who uses it in their posts or sites or whatever. It's just that as I write, I like to keep a center decorum to the forum. When used properly foul language can be an effective literary tool, at the moment I am not in the particular genre. When I write about events, or my reviews and commentaries, I think cursing would lessen the impact, whereas if I was writing fiction, which I hope to one day, foul language may creep into it more to make certain characters, or whatever, more credible.
Sounds strange, doesn't it? Not to use it in one forum for credibility, yet use it in another for the same reason. So, don't expect any f-bombs or the like around here, at least for now. If that is something that you look for, you will have to look elsewhere for your fix. Anyway, I hope this has been enlightening.
Until next time, F off!

Alone
Under these stars
I have grown
I have been alone
grown into the being
you see before you
I have become alone
by choice to become
one with myself
but loneliness is different
I am surrounded by
other beings but not as I
They too are alone
growing into what you see
All different all unique
But look again
look closer you see
You see
We are alike not alone
as I claim we are
We are together
drawing off each other
Assimilating ideals
concepts beliefs
Creating our different
but similar mental states
All are different
Therefore Alone
But on another
Plane of existence
We are one with
Each other
alone
yet
Together as one
Lone person

I Want To Write...
But often times I just have nothing to say. That said, let me write about that.
I so often have some good ideas, but forget them as soon as I think them. I hate writer's block, the thoughts are sitting there, teasing you, just out of reach. It can be very maddening. It seems to be happening more and more often. Maybe I'm just getting old.
Anyway, the pictures below are a result of the Motograter concert I went to on Saturday. The lower one was taken with my camera phone, and of course there was very little light and the picture is almost nonexistent. You can sort of make out the band members. The white splotch on the right is the lead singer's face. Above that is a wonderful picture of my hands after returning home. As I was walking out of the club, the percussionist (I think)was walking back in, I had the automatic reaction to slap him on the back and thank him for the excellent show. As my hand was hurtling through space, I realized, duh, he's covered in paint! Of course I couldn't stop in time, and as I took my hand away from his back, it was covered in this gray paste. I was wearing a white shirt, so I knew where my hands weren't going. I ended up just rubbing them together to at least dry it off a bit for the drive home. And that is how my hands ended up like that.
Stay tuned for more nonsense from - The Victim!
Never slap a guy wearing body paint on the back!
I tried to take a picture with my phone at the Motograter concert - Didn't come out too well...

A World at War
After seeing
Control Room yesterday, I've been thinking a bit about the ongoing war in Iraq. I am not a political person, nor have I been following all of the goings on terribly closely, but after seeing something like that, it will get one thinking about the world and a touch of the big picture.
There are awful things happening in the world right now, people are getting killed that shouldn't be. Hate is flying around in sometimes such a wide pattern that it will catch anyone caught in its wake, innocent or not. I see footage of the Iraqi people and realize I can never know what it is like to be in that situation, nor do I really want to be. What I do know is that I want all of our troops to come home as soon as possible. I want this conflict to end. I want peace. We all should wish to see an end to these aggressions.
A lot of people make fun of President Bush. That goes for a lot of political leaders. I am not one to really poke fun at these people, as I do not follow them terribly closely, but I will admit to finding a lot of humor in the way they some things and the way they are done. I feel that Bush is an intelligent man and has a good idea of what he is doing, or else he would not have made it this far in politics, controversy or no. I also think that Bush's biggest problem, and the reason for a lot of the jokes at his expense, is his poor public speaking. The man is terrible on the mic, he is very funny to listen to, and I feel it is mostly unintentional.
Anyway, one of my biggest issues with this war in Iraq has been the way that the focus changes so quickly. First we were after Osama bin Laden, then after he went into hiding, we went to Iraq to look for "weapons of mass destruction," when those could not be found, it turned to Saddam Hussein must be taken down, then it was Iraqi freedom, now it's probably gone through a few more incarnations. There is no focus, and it just seems disorganized.
In my opinion, the focus should not have been changed from Osama until he was caught or killed. He is one of, if not the, biggest threat right now. That is not to say Saddam is not a bad guy, he is, and the job should have been finished back in The Gulf War, and we would not be worrying about it right now.
I could probably write more, but then I would be rambling and not make much sense. I also don't particularly care to talk about it, but after seeing that film yesterday, I had to write something. Thanks for bearing with me, I promise to lighten up. Biggest thing to remember is that even if you do not follow every move, always be aware of what is going on in the world, we are seeing history in the making.
Stay Aware of the World.
